A Lesson in Curls...
Some of the Queens in Crowns will know all the different curl patterns like the back or their hand and others are still learning (and aren’t we all)...⠀
But it’s important that you know what the different curl patterns look and feel like when deciding to switch up your look, so... here we go!⠀
Towards the end of 2020, at MGH we have been exploring the evolution of black hair over the last five decades.
From the iconic political looks, supported in the western world fashion in the early 1970s, to the Braids looks whichhave consistently grown more Intricate and beautiful, travelling down memory lane has been both exciting and nostalgic.
Week one explored the 1970s and 1980s...
The truth is, every woman has intrinsic value that could never be added to or diminished by something as ephemeral as a fashion trend, a well-placed textile, or even the perfect hair. The truth is: She is a queen. The curve of her body can birth nations, can navigate the physical and the spiritual with the grace of a swan and the might of a lion. Her hair? That’s just her crowning glory.
According to www.dictionary.com, a Crown is "any of various types of headgear worn by a monarch as a symbol of sovereignty, often made of precious metal and ornamented with valuable gems." It further defines a Crown as an “ornamental headgear worn by a person designated king or queen in a pageant, contest, etc.” As women, we have learned over time that our hair is our Crown; a precious object that adorns the head.
